This website is the creation of Ivor Noicely, MSN., CRNA with a Master of Science in Nursing and is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with over 20 years of experience. He is licensed by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists. Mr. Noicely graduated in 1995 from the Harlem School of Nurse Anesthesia, Lehman College, City University of New York. Ivor has maintained an active clinical practice, and is currently employed with one of the largest academic Medical Center and Outpatient Surgery Center in South Florida. Based on the type of surgical procedure, which includes Neurology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Pediatrics, and Liver transplant he provides anesthesia care in these three (3) areas:
1. General Anesthesia:
This is the complete loss of consciousness. General anesthesia is a medically controlled coma. Patients under general anesthesia do not respond to words or touch and usually cannot breathe on their own or protect their airway.
2. Regional Anesthesia or Localized Anesthesia:
This is called a nerve or field block, where the anesthetic is injected into or around the nerve causing loss of sensation in the specific area controlled by that specific nerve.
3. Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC):
This is when a patient is deeply/heavily sedated for a short surgical procedure while the patient’s airway, breathing, blood pressure and organ perfusion are constantly evaluated.
